Company History:

    Universal shipping agency was established in 1973 by merger of the first shipping companies in Libya, and became the major shipping company in Libya.

      When the “General National Maritime Transport Co”. was established in1975 as the owner of the Libyan national fleet, “Universal Shipping Agency” became a subsidiary of the parent co “GNMTC”. serving at all Libyan commercial ports and oil terminals.

      On February 18th 2003 based on governmental decree, Universal-shipping agency emerged as an independent, publicly owned company under the name “Universal Shipping Company”.

      The new company with its long history in the shipping industry as it inherited the skill and the expertise of the business from the days of those companies which made later “Universal Shipping Agency” through the years up to today makes the new company an unequivocal pioneer in the business of shipping and marine transport in Libya.

      Universal shipping co. has its owned or hired container storage yards in all Libyan ports, and the movements and accounts of containers are handled by computers and are managed by specialized fully staffed department.

Company’s objectives:

• Perform all related marine transport works especially.

• All shipping agency works in all Libyan ports and oil terminals

• Marine surveying and inspections, and representing of P&I clubs.

• Representing foreign shipping companies.

• Owning and chartering of merchant ships and oil tankers.

• Joining venture with companies interested, with benefit to all parties.
